Splitting a whole boat: cost per person at 8, 12 and 16
Updated 4 November 2026
To split the cost of a private boat in Komodo, divide the one whole-boat fare, IDR 78,000,000 (≈ USD 4,785) on Raja Bintang 01, by the guests. Eight guests pay IDR 9,750,000 (≈ USD 598) each, twelve pay IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) and sixteen pay IDR 4,880,000 (≈ USD 299), with the park package and tips on top.
Divide first, then add
The fare for the whole boat is one number per route: IDR 69,000,000 (≈ USD 4,233) for two days, IDR 78,000,000 (≈ USD 4,785) for three, IDR 85,000,000 (≈ USD 5,215) for four. It is the same for 1 to 16 guests. That makes the sum short.
Call it the sixteen-berth rule. Divide the fare by the number of guests, then add the lines that stand beside it. The division is the part everyone does in their head. The adding is the part that surprises people.
The fare is rounded, in rupiah, and all-in as quoted, with fuel inside. Nothing is added without a written quote, so the lines beside the fare are all in the quote we send.

Eight, twelve, sixteen at the table
On the three-day route, eight guests pay IDR 9,750,000 (≈ USD 598) each, twelve pay IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) and sixteen pay IDR 4,880,000 (≈ USD 299). On the two-day route the same sizes pay IDR 8,620,000 (≈ USD 529), IDR 5,750,000 (≈ USD 353) and IDR 4,310,000 (≈ USD 264). On the four-day route they pay IDR 10,620,000 (≈ USD 652), IDR 7,080,000 (≈ USD 434) and IDR 5,310,000 (≈ USD 326).
The table below holds the other sizes. The numbers get smaller as the party grows, and they stop falling at sixteen because that is the ceiling for a private charter.
At eight guests, the Master, the Deluxe and the two Private cabins fill first. At twelve, a Sharing cabin joins them. At sixteen both Sharing cabins are in use, and they share a bathroom.

Lines that stand beside the fare
Five lines sit outside the fare. The park package comes first and is quoted in writing. Flights to Labuan Bajo and hotels before and after are your own. Tips for the crew and personal expenses are yours as well.
Drinks beyond coffee, tea and water are a line to ask about before the trip, and anything extra is quoted in writing. On a private charter the guide and documentation are also a line of their own, available on request and priced separately.
Put those lines next to the fare and divide the whole by the guests. That is the real cost per person.

Park fees: who pays and when
The park's own ticket is IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day under PP 36/2024. Indonesian citizens pay IDR 50,000 on a weekday and IDR 75,000 on a weekend, public holiday or joint-leave day. Those figures were checked on 4 November 2026.
The ticket is separate from our park package line, which also covers the ranger and local levies, and we quote it in writing. We state no fixed total, because the number of park days and the party decide it. Ask for the sum for your dates.

One package covers the government entrance ticket (IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, PP 36/2024), the ranger fee and the local levies. It is quoted per guest and paid on top of the boat price, unless your quote says it is included. For other trip lengths, the desk quotes the package with your booking.

Fairer ways to share
Split by guest is the simplest. Split by cabin is the fairest when the party is mixed: the Master pays more, a Sharing cabin pays less, and the total still equals the fare. Families can split by household.
One person can pay for the group. A card payment link adds 3 percent, so a group that wants to avoid that fee can pay by other means. We tell you the options when we send the quote.
Whoever wires the deposit of 50 percent holds the date, and the balance falls due 30 days before sailing. Settle who owes whom among yourselves; we give no legal advice.
A worked example, then ask
Ten friends take the three-day route. Each pays IDR 7,800,000 (≈ USD 479) for the boat. Add the park package, flights, hotels and tips, which each guest meets separately. The cabin plan puts four guests in the cabins with a bathroom of their own and the rest in a Sharing cabin or two.
Send your head count, your dates and the route you prefer. We reply with a written quote and a cabin plan that you can read out to everyone in the group.
Check the sum against your own. If a line is missing, such as the park package or a guide on a charter, say so, and we correct the quote before you pay anything.
FAQ
How do two families or a group of friends split the cost of a whole boat?
Divide the one fare by the number of guests, then add the park package, flights and tips each guest meets. Ten guests on the three-day route pay IDR 7,800,000 (≈ USD 479) each for the boat. Splitting by cabin instead is fairer when the cabins differ.
Is the Komodo National Park fee included in the boat price?
No. The park package, with the entrance ticket, ranger and local levies, is quoted beside the fare in writing. The government ticket for a foreign visitor is IDR 250,000 per day, checked on 4 November 2026. Ask for the sum for your dates.
Is there a discount for a group of 16?
No group discount is published. The whole-boat fare is already one price for 1 to 16 guests, so sixteen guests simply share the same number between more people. We do not add a percentage to it and we do not take one off.
Can each guest pay separately?
Ask us before you book. The quote is for the whole boat, and the deposit of 50 percent is paid as one payment. If your group wants to pay in parts, tell us and we confirm in writing what is possible. Card links add 3 percent.
