Pink Beach: shallow reef, rose-tinted sand
Updated 4 November 2026
Pink Beach by phinisi is a snorkel stop on day 2 of Raja Bintang 01's three-day plan, after Padar. Snorkelling gear is included in the fare, and the reef lies close to the shore. Bring a hat and reef-safe sunscreen; the whole boat costs IDR 78,000,000 (≈ USD 4,785).
Rose sand and a shallow reef
Pink Beach is where day two stops being a climb and becomes a swim. The tint comes from fragments of red coral mixed into the sand, and the reef sits close to the shore, so a swimmer reaches coral within a few strokes of the beach.
- Arrival: the tender running in, and sand the colour of weak tea with a pink cast.
- At the stop: a shallow reef you reach from the beach, in water about 1 to 8 m deep, with a mild current.
- Leaving: a wet walk back to the tender and the boat.
Snorkelling gear is included in the fare, and the water is shallow enough for most swimmers. Life jackets are on board, 30 of them, for anyone who prefers one.
Gear, shade and the hour to swim
Mornings give calmer water and softer light, which is why the stop follows Padar on day two. Bring a hat, reef-safe sunscreen and water. Shade on the sand is thin, so tell the crew if the sun is too hard and ask for the tender early.
The pink is pale, not bright, and it changes with the light and the tide. In July and August the beach is at its busiest, and the morning visit beats the crowd. Some plans call the same stop Long Beach, so do not be surprised by either name.
The captain decides the hour with the weather, and the day plan is tentative. Keep a dry towel and a change of shirt in a bag in the tender, because the walk back is wet and the next stop is a dragon walk.

Pink in patches, not everywhere
The sand is pink only in patches, and it is a snorkel stop, not a long beach day. The colour depends on the light and the tide. Guests who arrive expecting a pink shoreline see a pale one, with patches that photograph well from a low angle and look plain from a standing one.
The beach is not a place for a picnic you have not arranged. Meals are served on the boat, and anything on the sand is an extra we quote in writing. If a barbecue or a cake on the beach matters to you, ask us before you book, and we ask the crew.
Pink Beach, the second day's rest
Pink Beach sits between Padar and the dragon walk on the three-day route, and it is the first rest of the day. The whole boat costs IDR 78,000,000 (≈ USD 4,785) for up to 16 guests, and an open-trip seat starts at IDR 4,750,000 (≈ USD 291) per person. The four-day route is a sample, and its stops are agreed in writing.
If you want more time in the water than the plan gives, tell us. We ask the crew, and anything we agree is confirmed in writing before you pay. The order of the day belongs to the captain and the weather, so a request is a request and not a promise.
FAQ
Is Pink Beach worth it on a phinisi trip?
Yes, as a swim; the colour is a bonus rather than the reason. The tender runs you in to pale pink sand, you reach a shallow reef straight from the beach in a mild current, and the tender takes you back to the boat.
How long do we stay at Pink Beach?
The captain sets the time ashore on the day, with the tide and the weather. Gear is included in the fare, and if you want a longer swim, ask us and we confirm what the plan allows in writing.
Can children or older travellers manage Pink Beach?
Yes, it is one of the easier stops. The reef is shallow, the current mild and the beach flat. Children who swim and older guests who can wade manage well. Sun protection matters, because shade is thin. Life jackets are on board for those who want one.
